INCREASED CARGO VOLUMES ATTRACTS INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS SERVICE PROVIDERS

SDV International Logistics recently opened a branch office, SDV Namibia (Pty) Ltd, a member of the Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG), based in Walvis Bay, with the aim of providing a logistics service to potential and existing clients utilizing the Walvis Bay Corridors through the Port of Walvis Bay. This follows a favourable rise in the corridor volumes to accommodate the increasing cargo volumes moving through the Port of Walvis Bay along the Walvis Bay Corridors which is attracting more logistics service providers to start operation in Namibia, specifically in Walvis Bay. The WBCG has observed a remarkable number of transporters operating on the Walvis Bay Corridors through the Port of Walvis Bay to and from southern Africa. With the Port of Walvis Bay planning to invest over N$1.3 billion in its master plan which includes the erection of additional container terminals, purchasing more handling equipment and increasing the berthing capacity of the port, this is bound to increase the cargo volumes even further along the Walvis Bay Corridors, and as a result additional service providers are necessary to handle the increased capacity. Along with the plans for the port to upgrade and expand, the Walvis Bay Corridors are committed to facilitate trade along the corridors, to offer the existing and potential users of the corridors a faster and pilferage free transit to and from southern Africa, through the Port of Walvis Bay. SDV International Logistics is a worldwide-known-and-leading group, specializing in international freight forwarding, transportation and logistics. They are also based in Durban, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town and maintain a close relationship with major operators of the international transportation which is beneficial to the Walvis Bay Corridor Group in terms of attracting more importers and exporters to utilize the Walvis Bay Corridors via the Port of Walvis Bay.
