The Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) would like to inform transport operators, logistics companies and corridor stakeholders of the evolving operational and safety conditions along certain transport routes within the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Recent updates suggest the need for increased caution at specific high-traffic truck holding areas and transit points, where congestion and operational pressures may occasionally affect normal traffic flows. In this context, transport operators are encouraged to maintain regular route assessments, strengthen internal communication with drivers, and coordinate closely with relevant authorities and corridor partners.
Truck drivers are advised to exercise due caution, follow company operating procedures and avoid extended stops at unsecured locations where possible. The Haut-Katanga Provincial Government has taken steps to support traffic management and road safety along the Kasumbalesa–Lubumbashi route, and these efforts are acknowledged.
The WBCG remains engaged with corridor stakeholders and authorities and will continue to monitor developments in support of the safe, reliable, and efficient movement of goods.
All stakeholders are encouraged to continue prioritising driver wellbeing and operational prudence as integral elements of corridor performance. The WBCG extends condolences and sympathy to all those directly affected by this situation. We are supportive of initiatives aimed at resolving this situation to ensure that our corridors remain competitive and efficient. Stakeholders are further advised that the WBCG Office in Lubumbashi remains available to provide support and coordination assistance where possible.
